Elion Qinro
Elion Qinro ("El" to their friends) is a half-elven person who currently serves as a Priest of Torm at a shrine outside of Neverwinter.
Elion grew up in the Temple of Tyr in Neverwinter. As a youth, they wanted to be a healer, but their deepest dream was to be a wizard. They attended the University of Suzail, where they were a mediocre-to-bad wizard (a lack of control was cited as their primary flaw) and met their close friend Serai, a human woman also studying magic.
As neither of them were progressing in their studies as quickly as they desired, Elion and Serai devised a plan to cheat the system by becoming Warlocks. They summoned the Lord of Night and made a very bad deal with him, one which left Serai bound under the Lord of Night while barely giving either Serai or Elion anything in return. Elion, desperate to save Serai, made a further bad deal and successfully saved a fragment of her soul in exchange for a fragment of their own.
Elion then returned to Neverwinter, as the University of Suzail wasn't quite sure what had happened but it was clear that Elion was involved in Serai's disappearance. In Neverwinter, Elion became obsessed with both saving the city and saving Serai. This led them to become a member of the White Council, where they became a good friend of Mallon Ilizana, worked on several populist bills (re-opening the College of Neverwinter after it was closed down, calling for a democratic election, etc.), and also became romantically involved with Benthos "Benny" Haichen after he saved them from an impromptu assassination attempt.
Unfortunately for their romantic hopes, Elion's warlock ways—not powered by the fey as they had originally planned, but instead stolen from the Great Old Ones—and questionable goals for the city meant that Benny was investigating them for the Resistance and that Elion was keeping secrets of their own from Benny. Despite these secrets, the two genuinely cared for each other, but when the secrets finally came to light it set off a series of break-ups that made nobody happy.
Most notably, Elion Qinro wanted to try to sacrifice Valen Daj (note the refusal to use Eimar's chosen and preferred name) to the Court of Night in exchange for Serai's return. This was, understandably, not well-received by Benny and his friends. Despite their misgivings about Elion's overall goals, Benny and other members of the Bounty Hunter's Guild worked to find a safer way to save Serai and Elion's souls from the Court of Night.
After a series of investigations, and with the help of one Yamanoi, the members of the Bounty Hunter's guild (led by Benny, Fredrick, and Azoren) found Serai's soul fragment hidden in a magical book, discovered the terms of the Lord of Night's deal with Elion and Serai, and confronted the Lord of Night to regain both people and their souls. As part of the deal, Benny was bound to guard over Elion's soul and prevent them from entering any further Warlock deals.
Elion Qinro, soul restored with Viola Hyslop's help, was terribly overcome by the return of their emotions. They spent some time recovering in the Temple of Tyr before temporarily returning to their duties in the White Council. However, their political standing had dissolved over this time, and Mathienne Feywinter in particular was thwarting their attempts to accomplish anything.
Elion Qinro retired from the White Council after being called by Torm to become a shrine keeper. They retired before a new round of elections had been called, allowing them to name Durikon Stonefist as a new Junior Councillor and request that Solana Presna take their place as Senior Councillor without requiring a popular vote.
