Azoren Embersong

Azoren Embersong, née Ashwind, is a half-elven bard with a loud fashion sense, and penchant for showering friends and enemies alike in confetti and glitter.

He’s 6ft tall with amber eyes, long straight black hair and typically sports a well kept short cropped beard. He doesn’t know his exact age but reckons he’s in his 60s.

History

Azoren was born in the city-state of Uthalinor, about 1,000 years ago. Growing up in a city where magic was power and status, his extended family wanted him to be a wizard or sorcerer. So, of course, he dropped out of school to join a band, and fell in with the bard crowd.

At that time the main faction of bards were already deeply involved in fomenting revolution against the ruling class of arcane magic users. Azoren was swept up in their intrigues by proximity and started working for an elven spymaster who went by the stage name of Divine.

Political differences and personal animosity led Azoren’s Aunt, Serai Ashwind, to set a curse on him causing him to skip forward in time. How long he had between each skip or how far into the future he would end up was random. Sometimes decades would pass without a desynchronization, other times only hours.

A romance with Divine fell apart after he disappeared for about a century. Even elves have trouble putting life on hold for that long.

The rebellion in Uthalinor succeeded, but upon returning from another of his time skips he found the city completely destroyed in retaliation. In the aftermath Azoren ended up wandering the continent and living off busking.

Present Day

800 years after the destruction of his home city Azoren ended up in present day Neverwinter and came to the Bounty Hunters’ Guild looking for work to supplement his income as a street performer.

He formed early friendships with Ceva and Big Jim, though initially remained standoffish with Daj because of his history with wizards. He also made connections with the Bards’ Guild and while never formally joining often finds gigs with them.

During the course of his membership in the Bounty Hunters’ Guild Azoren accidentally stumbled into a resistance meeting. He stayed in the hopes that this time things could turn out differently.

Daj was the key to finally breaking Azoren’s time travel curse. Daj introduced Azoren to the chronomancer, Toross Caiden, who helped him find out the curse on him was anchored to an object. His aunt’s watch. It was old enough to be considered a rare antique. Invis Winterenvy had acquired the watch and given it to his beloved wife Sana. It was buried with her when she passed. With the help of Winterenvy’s daughter Leda, Azoren gained access to the family crypt and dispelled the watch finally setting him free of the curse.

Delivered from the spector of being pulled out of time Azoren began thinking of Neverwinter as home instead of another temporary stop over. With the encouragement of Ceva he sought mind healing to adjust to living without the curse and to process what had happened.

Ten months after arriving in Neverwinter Big Jim set Azoren up with Kirvan Aramar, an instructor at the fighters’ college. They hit it off and have been dating ever since.
