Benthos "Benny" Haichen

Benthos "Benny" Haichen Ilizana is a Triton from the western seas. He is a member in good standing of the Bounty Hunter's Guild and Mallon Ilizana's husband. He has a young dog, Kelpy, who was a gift from Mal.

Benny grew up in a fairly isolated deep-sea Triton community but was always fascinated by the greater world, as represented by the merchant trade ships, and wanted to go out and become a sailor. Once he was a teenager, he did just that: He left home, signed on to a merchant ship (the Pelican's Pride, under Captain Rhise), and looked to the horizon for new adventures.

Benny spent a decade or so sailing the seas before deciding that he wanted to explore life on land. Neverwinter was a port town he quite liked, and the Bounty Hunter's Guild provided easy employment, and so he settled down there.

Life in Neverwinter became quite exciting for Benny once he was recruited to the Resistance, then led by Henry Lilien and Taran Miraleth. It became even more exciting when he stepped between a dagger and then-Councillor Elion Qinro, kicking off a romance that ended poorly for everyone involved due to the layers of lies woven on both sides.

The bright side of Benny's entanglement with El, however, was growing closer to Mallon Ilizana. After their respective relationships with El ended, Benny and Mal remained close, prompting everyone (including and especially Mal's mother, Jastira Ilizana) to ask them how long they had been dating and how serious they were about each other. Through a number of shenanigans, most particularly Vaeril Elra's wedding, Benny and Mal are now married.

Benny does not particularly enjoy being a Lord Ilizana, but being part of the nobility has some benefits when it comes to maneuvering through the politics of Neverwinter. Still, he'd rather be a simple sailor than the political figure he's become.
