# Adamar

Adamar is a Human woman in her early 40s who is one of the three historical leaders of the Neverwinter Resistance. While her early origins are largely unknown, as she prefers not to talk about it, she is open about the fact that she hails from the north of Faerun, specifically from the Ten Towns.

Describing herself as "one leg of a three-legged stool", she contrasts herself openly with close friend and fellow Resistance leader [Sakai](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/sakai-dane-the-coffee-merchant "Sakai (Dane the Coffee Merchant)"), stating that he handles the "spy shit" while she is the one responsible for "ops and gettin' shit done". Similar to Sakai, she was arrested, tried and executed for treason following a failed coup attempt that saw the Resistance take on the White Council and fail. Her background and abilities are unknown, but she is believed to be a skilled fighter experienced with "sword and board".

##### **Andrew Bowditch**

Andrew Bowditch is a Human man in his mid-20s. The former head of house for House Winterenvy, he was extremely close to [Invis Winterenvy Sr. ](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/invis-winterenvy-sr "Invis Winterenvy, Sr.")and believed that the two of them had a close and personal friendship. He was dismissed from service by Councilor Winterenvy for unspecified reasons, though Bowditch expressed that he believes this is because the Open Lord of Waterdeep requested that Councilor Winterenvy turn him over to his household as part of the collateral required to consider Invis for an open seat on the Council of Sixteen. Following his dismissal, Andrew Bowditch sought out the Neverwinter Resistance and worked closely with [Sakai](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/sakai-dane-the-coffee-merchant "Sakai (Dane the Coffee Merchant)") to hand over what information he knew regarding the members of the Winterenvy household and what Councilor Winterenvy was planning to do following his surprise retirement announcement.

##### **Burke Halpin**

Burke Halpin is the owner of the Merciful Maiden Tavern (referred to commonly as the Merciful) and the former head of the Thieves' Guild. Primarily known for being the father figure to[ Junebug](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/miscellaneous-npcs-of-neverwinter "Miscellaneous NPCs of Neverwinter"), he dated [Ceva](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/ceva-valroyna) briefly and is believed to have been inducted into the Neverwinter Resistance by her. A somewhat unpleasant man who is notoriously difficult to work with, he typically has information on the less savory parts of Neverwinter, keeping close tabs on the goings-on in the Neverwinter Underground and Harbor Quarter.

##### **Henry Lillen**

The former would-be leader of the Neverwinter Resistance. A printer's apprentice, Henry Lillen started an underground press that aimed to expose the wrongdoings of the White Council. Caught and imprisoned by associates of Invis Winterenvy Sr, he was tortured for information regarding what had happened to the escaped cleric of Tymora, Sister Greeley. Following his rescue by members of the Bounty Hunter's Guild, Henry Lillen has largely stayed out of the spotlight, choosing to work behind the scenes at the Temple of Tyr, though he has since written articles for the *Neverwinter Voice*. He is a close personal friend of [Taran Miraleth](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/other-councilors-past-and-present "Other Councilors (Past and Present)"), though the two have not been seen together in public since his rescue.

Resistance members of the current generation are sometimes referred to as "the Friends of Henry Lillen." This is somewhat in genuine recognition of his contribution-- he did help to jumpstart a new generation of active Resistance again after 20 years of dormancy following the failed revolution-- but given his short and rather disastrous tenure as an active member, there's a definite tongue-in-cheek element as well.

##### **Ysabeau**

Ysabeau (last name unknown) is a Changeling and operator of a spy cell in the Artisan's Guild. They have contributed to several information-gathering missions and are most notorious for having successfully impersonated [Harmonium Kindwinter](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/other-councilors-past-and-present "Other Councilors (Past and Present)") during her bid to hold a coup and overthrow the Council of Neverwinter.

# Sakai (Dane the Coffee Merchant)

Sakai (Dane the Coffee Merchant) is a Drow man (currently disguised as a High Elf) who hails from Menzoberranzan (the Underdark). While his early life is unknown, it is understood through hints he has given that he was exiled from his homeland at a young age, and has not returned to the Underdark in any capacity since his banishment.

Sakai is a Bard and was originally a member of the Bards Guild before forming the Neverwinter Resistance with Adamar and Bram. Following an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the White Council, the details of which have yet to be confirmed by those Guild members in the Resistance, he was sentenced to death and subsequently hanged before being decapitated, with body and head buried separately. Resurrected with help from [Viola Hyslop](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/the-temple-of-tyr "The Temple of Tyr"), he spent the next sixteen years hiding in the Neverwinter Underground, using what time he had that was not spent plotting and spying on the White Council restoring the burned-out shell of the former Neverwinter Opera House.

Following the resurgence of the resistance movement at the hands of [Henry Lillen](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/resistance-members-miscellaneous "Resistance Members (Miscellaneous)") and [Taran Miraleth](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/other-councilors-past-and-present "Other Councilors (Past and Present)"), Sakai's appearance was changed from that of a badly-scarred Drow man to a High Elf with help from [Eimar Daj](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/eimar-valen-daj "Eimar (Valen) Daj"). His current cover story is that he is a coffee merchant hailing from Amn, selling coffee to the College of Neverwinter after having successfully convinced [Elen Blackburn](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/college-of-neverwinter-faculty-and-staff "College of Neverwinter (Faculty and Staff)") it was in her best interests to purchase beans from him, as well as running a coffee cart in the Open Air market and providing coffee to the [Barbarian Horde](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/the-barbarian-horde "The Barbarian Horde").

Sakai has significant history with[ Ceva Valroyna](https://bookshop.nentuaby.space/books/people/page/ceva-valroyna), though it is unclear what this history is. What is known is that the two have recently been romantically linked, though if this is a true relationship or simply another part of his cover story remains to be seen, as he is currently bent on courting her in the "Amnish fashion".
